Soundtrack to a Murder was started as a solo project in 2007. This was a project which I used strictly for experimentation. During the first couple of years I only recorded four songs. In 2010, I had renewed interest in the project and wrote a ton of material. I put six more songs up on our page which were written and recorded in early 2010. I currently still have a huge backlog of nearly finished material. On all the recordings, I use a drum machine, mostly an Alesis SR-16. The machine gives the music a cold mechanical feel which I favor. I also use processed guitars, distorted and processed bass, a bit of synthesizer, looped samples and extremely processed vocals. A lot of lyrics used for Soundtrack come from lyrics to forgotten songs of the past, lines from movies and many other strange places, thrown abstractly together. I have also started writing some original lyrics. Although Soundtrack was originally intended to be a side project used for recording only, I decided to try to find other musicians willing to help me out to make this a live band.
